25 things I learned by 25.

25 things I learned by 25.
  1. Laugh at yourself—all the time. At every stumble over an uneven sidewalk, your jokes, your failures. Laugh at every embarrassing thing you do until embarrassment is something you shrug off.
  2. Always make the time to reconnect with and show love to Mother Nature. She is your mother after all.
  3. It truly is that damn phone.
  4.  At day's end, you are the only person who has to sit with your choices.
  5. Create. Make art. Play instruments. Record a YouTube video. Explore things you think you’d never be good at (and do them even if you suck because if it brings you joy who cares).
  6. Pour more into your cup so you don’t go empty, filling others.
  7. Being self-aware is like, really hot.
  8. It is perfectly okay not to have the newest makeup products or wear in-trend clothing. Having your style and being authentic is always cooler than cycling through trends.
  9. There is no “correct” way to live life. Everyone gives life their definition.
  10. If one door closes, make sure it's slammed shut, never to be opened again.
  11. Have more patience. There are two things I have learned that all humans have in common. Death and the fact that this is universally our first conscious experience of this life. We all will inevitably make mistakes. We, as humans,  all have a choice to learn from them. We also have the option to have patience and understanding for those who have wronged us. We are all having our first experience and learning as we go.
  12. They were not playing with our frontal lobe development.
  13.  How others choose to show love to you does not measure how much your love is worth.
  14. Getting out of your comfort zone is the only way to grow. Leave your hometown. Finally commit to the month-long road trip. Make yourself so uncomfortable you have the urge to jump out of your flesh on the search for new skin.
  15. Sometimes it's best to just shut up in conversation. Listen to others around you. Observe a little more. Be quieter when needed and without concern for what others will think. You will learn more than you are aware of.
  16. Call your family.
  17. When was the last time you looked up at the sky? The moon, clouds, and sunset aren't admired enough.
  18. Diets suck. Restricting youself sucks. Taste the sweet foods!!!! Drink the cocktail!!!! (but also with a healthy balance of moving your body). It's all about balance.
  19. Don't allow anyone to tell you you're too much of anything due to their insecurities about lacking those qualities.
  20. Find out for yourself. Form and create your opinions from your firsthand experiences instead of being influenced by others' accounts.
  21. Once you stop seeing beauty in things like the sound of rain or a baby's laugh, you have subjected yourself to the mundane way of living. Keep things whimsical & magical. Remember, something isn't beautiful until we give it the title.
  22. Speaking of rain, spend some time dancing in it. (or lie on the sidewalk next to someone you love in the pouring rain. Speaking from experience.)
  23. Take the leap of faith, and if you don't land it, at least you said you tried.
  24. You do not have to allow anyone access to you. Not even family isnt entitled to being in your life if they are a shitty person.
  25. Ask yourself if you want to be the person in 30 years saying, “I wish I made the time,” or the opposite, reflecting, “I can’t believe I experienced that”.
